My Bio

Alyssa Carter grew up in southern California and began dancing at the age of 3. She studied ballet, tap, and jazz at Dance Magic Studio and danced with the Antelope Valley Ballet for 8 years. Alyssa performed in many ballets including; The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Giselle, and more. Alyssa moved to Austin, Texas at the age of 11 and continued dancing at Greater Austin Dance Academy; where she also trained in contemporary, pointe, hip-hop and musical theatre. Alyssa was captain of her high school drill team and began to teach dance after graduating. She also performed in and choreographed for several musicals including; Footloose and Guys and Dolls. Alyssa continued to dance with a modern/contemporary company at Texas State University in San Marcos and frequently choreographs for high school drill teams and dance companies. She has studied American Sign Language and Deaf Culture throughout her college career, and earned a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas State University. Alyssa currently works as a speech pathologist with Pflugerville ISD and is thrilled to be teaching at GADA. She is so excited to share her love of dance with her students!
